Bundelkhand Expressway was a long-awaited project by the people of Bundelkhand. The area has been part of ancient significance with Sri Ram traveling to Chitrakoot after he asked him to get into exile. The area has seen negligible development during the Congress era. The harsh reality was that people in this region have faced severe drought but only Modi ji the working prime minister took the initiative with major projects in this region. He took the major decision with Bundelkhand expressway as a 296 km four-lane Expressway with a construction cost of around Rs 14,850 Crores.
In February 2020 a major initiative by PM Modi gave the region a development that was never to be seen during earlier Governments. It has seen lacking infrastructure projects. It gives a major boost to industrial connectivity within this region. The inauguration of the major project was on 16th July 2022. It was at Kaitheri Village in Orai tehsil, Jalaun district at 11:30 AM.
The Government has taken the initiative to enhance connectivity. It is a 296 km long Bundelkhad expressway. Chitrakoot a major pilgrim centre connects further towards Lucknow – Agra expressway at Etawah.
It is the fourth expressway that has been completed in a record 28 months. It is completed 8 months ahead of the deadline.
The project is with a further expansion plan of six lanes although it is a four-lane expressway. Six major districts Etawah, Auraiya, and Jalaun have Bundelkhand expressway connectivity. Other major districts that get an advantage for the project are Mahoba, Banda, and Hamirpur.
It then culminates at Gonda village with proximity to Gonda village near Bharatkoot area of Chitrakoot district within Bundelkhand.
It will give a huge boost to economic activities within the Bundelkhad region. The government's next major Banda and Jalaun districts are coming up as industrial hubs as per the next major initiative by the Government.
The entire project is with 6 packages and it created time-bound development. It made the completion of the project in record time which led to huge success for the construction team.
Some important facts about Bundelkhand Expressway:
The district cover is 7.
It has 4 bridges over the rail network and 18 big bridges, 286 small bridges for smooth flow of traffic.
It has 6 toll plaza booths and ramp plazas are in 7 numbers.
The project adds rainwater harvesting development every 500 meters.
As per the Green initiative of the Government, 7 lakh green trees are planted.
Total flyovers are 9, 224 underpasses connected with it.
The project was completed during the COVID-19 pandemic and employs many unemployed people from this region.
The project is constructed by UPEIDA.
It adds with major boost to connectivity and also industrial development is to be part of this region.
It will lead to the creation of jobs for people.
It extends from NH-35 at Gonda village. Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot is the entry point for the Bundelkhand expressway to Kudrail village at Etawah District is the merger with Lucknow-Agra Expressway.
The local economy gets a major boost with the introduction of the Bundelkhand expressway. Major economic activities come up with commercial and industrial developments in this region.
It is the first time that road networks have been boosted in this region and all over India by the initiative of PM Modi. Earlier the highways were a single road divided by white lines on roads during the Congress era.

It passes through North of Rath.
Then it connects the South direction of Maudaha.
It is with connectivity towards the North of Banda.
The northeastern area of Atarra connects with it.
Budelkhand expressway is with superior connectivity network and creates one of the first highway developments in this region. The toll plaza is not new for such roads as the world over such systems are in place to generate revenue for the time being. However, most of such places with toll plazas see incidents of people getting into brawls over paying money at toll booths. This leads to heavy jams on road networks. Most of the time Government initiatives for people living around the villages to get free access to link roads.
