Ganga Expressway Completion Date News The budget allocation for the Ganga Expressway is over Rs 36,200 Crore. The foundation stone was laid on 18 December 2021.
Ganga Expressway is a multi-city network of expressways that will connect from Merrut to Prayagraj. The project is huge with a total area of 1020 km long. It has state and central government approval with 80-90% of the land acquired for the project area. It is term as India’s second-longest expressway. The project will reduce travel time between Prayagraj to Delhi from 10-11 hours and up to 6 hours. The project creates development with huge industrial, residential, and economic corridors with a huge number of cities within it. The speed limit is 120 km/hour which saves considerable time.
The expressway is with six lanes that will get extended up to 8 lanes. The project will serve an entire industrial belt in this region. It adds a boost to a huge number of economic activities. The project has a cost of Rs 36,000 to Rs 42,000 Crore making it a bigger investment. The project thus gives direct connectivity towards the Eastern region of UP with Delhi-NCR. This will lead to an influx of trade and commerce with the region having an abundance in terms of resources. The exchange of goods and services with cities to benefit as Kanpur, Prayagraj, and Varanasi are the major economic hubs. The commercial development in this region will gain directly from it as the rapid movement of traffic will boost commercial activities.

The Expressway is at the entry point of Bijauli Village, Merrut. Judapur Dandu village at Prayagraj is the culminating point.
The cities that connect with the Ganga Expressway are Merrut, Hapur, and Bulandshahar. It further extends towards Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun and Shahjahanpur. The other cities that benefit from this expressway are Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, and Pratapgarh.
The entire city network is known to be part of trade and commerce that makes business run with flourishing mode. Almost all the cities have been recognized as a major center of economic activity with some of them having their products to be sold at national and international markets.
Ganga Expressway will get a 3.75-meter-wide service road. This will add an easy commute for residents who are part of a nearby village.
It has nine public convenience centers. The project gets seven railway over-bridges, 126 minor bridges in total, and 14 major bridges. It gives 381 underpasses on the expressway.
There is a 3.5 km long airstrip for emergency take-off and landing with air force planes to land with ease at Shahjahanpur.

Awadh, Kanpur-Noida Expressway, Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor, and Kanpur Airport get major benefits from this project.
Badaun, Varanasi, and Prayagraj will add major industrial units.
A major IT Park is about to come up in Kanpur near Trans Ganga City.
