Samruddhi Mahamarg or Nagpur – Mumbai super communication Expressway contributes with major steps for improving connectivity and infrastructure in this region. It realizes the Prime Minister's vision to get a super growth trajectory that will give a boost to the economy with the development of agriculture in this region.
It is built at a cost of Rs 55,000 Crore and connects two cities with a distance of 701 km. It covers Maharasthra’s 10 districts. The project has connectivity to the urban regions of Aurangabad, Nashik a well-developed pilgrimage centre for Hindus and Amravati.
After the political analyst, cartoonist, and leader who came up with Saamna - a Marathi language newspaper published in Maharashtra, India. Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackrey Maharastra Samruddhi Mahamarg is the official name for the project Nagpur – Mumbai Expressway.
The project was initiated by BJP leader the then Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis when he was CM in 2015. The political leader has given all his life to creating better lifelines for the region which has been in the news for farmer’s suicides during the Congress era.
The expressway is known for improving connectivity for all types of fast-moving vehicles. It adds with connectivity in 14 other districts and plays with key role in creating major connectivity for 24 districts. Mumbai to Nagpur connects with just seven hours of journey.
It further connects towards Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Jawaharlal Nehru port trust. It has connectivity with tourist attractions like Ajanta – Elora caves, pilgrimage center Shirdi, Lonar, and many others.
Samrudhi Mahamarg features:
120 meters with 6 lanes with 8 lanes expansion shortly.
The expressway passes through 392 villages, 10 districts, and 26 talukas.
Travel time is reduced to just 7 hours of drive.
150 Km Per hour of speed as proposed which makes it one of the fastest for road network.
18 new agricultural-oriented townships to come up in this region.
Contributing as the country’s most extensive Greenfield with 11 lakh trees to be planted on both sides of Expressways.
The expressway connects with an intelligent highway management system. CCTV cameras for traffic monitoring and provide much-needed relief in case of emergency.

It ensures with state of an art transport network with 65 flyovers, 274 minor bridges, and 33 big bridges. It has 8 railway over bridges, 6 tunnels, 25 interchanges, and 110 underpasses for LMV.
There are 189 underpasses built for it. 209 Pedestrians and animals underpasses constructed for smooth movement of traffic. 8 underpasses and 8 overpasses for animal movements.

The Mahamarg is expandable to 8 lanes with current development up to 6 lanes.
The total cost for this project is Rs 55,000 Crore.
Amane Village in District Thane is the starting point.
It connects Shivmadka Village in the District of Nagpur.
The project named Samruddhi Mahamarg is expected to boost the economy and generate employment.
Electric car charging stations with the help of solar plants that generates 250 MW of energy.
Completion time is July 2024.
