The Government of Maharashtra approved the construction of the Nagpur-Goa-Shaktipeeth expressway in February 2024. The project improves connectivity to this region. The Expressway connects with three Saktipeeth that pass through Tuljabhavani, Mahalaxmi, and Patradevi. It is one of the longest expressways in Maharashtra. 

The Nagpur – Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway was approved by the Maharashtra Government in March and is expected to be operational from 2028-2029. It is by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) as the land work survey is completed for the project. The process of land acquisition and compensation will soon be complete. The Expressway will pass through 12 districts that connect Nagpur and Goa. The Nagpur – Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway has an expected travel time between Nagpur and Goa of 21 hours to 11 hours. This is one of the significant achievements as the reduction of 10 hours saves time for the commuters.

The districts covered by Shaktipeeth Expressway are Yavatmal, Hingoli, and Nanded. It is further towards Parbhani, Latur, Beed, Osmanabad, Solapur, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg, and Patradevi (North Goa).

The travel time is 8 hours between Nagpur and Goa. It has been cut by 13 hours which makes a significant achievement. The owner of the project is MSRDC – Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation.

The government of Maharashtra has come up with a plan to construct a brand new Expressway that links Nagpur to Goa. The project is termed as Nagpur – Goa Expressway. The project was launched in the year September 2022 and got approval in March 2023 which costs Rs 83,600 Crore as per current estimates.

However, the area has been poverty-stricken and created developments that have been controversies as farmer suicide, abject poverty, and less rainfall.

Current status of Nagpur – Goa Expressway

The project is facing extreme delay with the execution of the project. With the completion of the acquisition, the work on the expressway begins soon. The expressway will be completed by 2028 or 2029. The project scale is enormous and expected to promote employment opportunities within the region.
